We chose our name ‘Polecat’ for a variety of reasons, partly inspired by the tenacity of our natural namesake. For this reason, we are very pleased to support the Vincent Wildlife Trust, a conservation charity founded in 1975 that specialises in studying and protecting polecats and other mammals.
At the end of the nineteenth century, polecats were virtually extinct in the UK. Their survival has been a conservation success story with much of lowland Britain now recolonised by a species that counts otters, martens, badgers and minks as its cousins. The Vincent Wildlife Trust has been at the forefront of this conservation effort.
Natalie Buttriss, the Trust’s Chief Executive, first approached Polecat a couple of years ago and we were delighted to become the charity’s first corporate supporter. Many Polecat employees have a keen interest in wildlife and the great outdoors. On weekends they can be found climbing, running, cycling, trekking or kayaking. So the charity fits well with our passions and interests, as well as resonating with our brand.
As Natalie declares: ‘What better company to have as a partner than one who shares the animal’s name!’
